1. About this notice
This notice explains how SipLedger handles information when you use the app, visit this website, or contact support. SipLedger is a personal drink journal for recording drinks and understanding available nutrition information. It does not require a separate SipLedger account. The developer’s public display name is Wchao.Jim. For privacy questions, contact wchao.jim@gmail.com.
2. Your journal and preferences
The app stores the information you enter or choose to record, such as drink names, amounts, dates, nutrition values, notes, and source text. These details are used to display your journal, calculate summaries, and let you inspect the basis of a record. Saved records can retain earlier versions and source snapshots.
Drink entries, favorites with their default serving sizes, and separate serving-size presets are saved on your device first. After previewing and confirming, you can sync these three collections through your private iCloud database, or export them in a complete JSON backup. App preferences, notification settings, and label images are excluded from this sync and these JSON backups. The app has no advertising or third-party analytics SDK, and we do not sell your journal data.
3. Camera, photos, and label recognition
You can choose a photo with Apple’s system photo picker or allow camera access to capture a nutrition label. Recognition runs on your device. SipLedger does not send label images to a cloud OCR or AI service. Recognized text and calculated values may become part of a saved record.
The current automatic recognition flow processes the selected image in memory and does not save the original photo as journal evidence. Existing label images that you previously chose to retain remain local and are not part of current iCloud synchronization or JSON backups. Your photo library and system backups are separate.
4. Optional iCloud and external copies
When you choose to use iCloud, drink entries, favorites, serving-size presets, complete source text, their earlier revisions, deletion information, and synchronization metadata can be sent to your private iCloud database. Apple provides that service through your Apple Account. SipLedger does not operate a separate server for your journal.
Previewing a merge contacts Apple to check the current account and read cloud revisions. You then review and confirm the merge to authorize that session, and choose Sync now to upload. Leaving the data page, entering the background, or choosing Stop Sync ends that session’s authorization. An already-sent request may have reached iCloud. Returning requires a new preview and confirmation; continuous background sync is not available.
Local saving and cloud confirmation are different: a saved record may still be waiting to upload. Stopping synchronization does not erase information already in iCloud. Exports, your photo library, device backups, and files you place in a cloud drive may also create external copies. Apple’s handling of its services is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.
5. Purchases and Pro access
Apple processes App Store purchases. SipLedger uses purchase and entitlement information supplied by Apple to determine Pro access, and stores the successful label-recognition allowance locally. These are separate from your drink records and are not included in journal JSON backups or journal synchronization.
Pro is a one-time, non-consumable purchase with no subscription or automatic renewal. The purchase screen shows the price supplied by the App Store for your region. SipLedger does not receive your full payment-card details from Apple.
6. Information you send to support
If you email support, we receive your email address, message, and anything you choose to attach. We use this information to understand and answer your request. The app’s feedback link opens your mail app; it does not automatically attach your journal, photos, or diagnostic files.
Send only what is needed, and remove private details from screenshots where possible. Support email is received through Gmail, which is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
7. Visiting this website
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. We do not add advertising, analytics scripts, tracking pixels, or cookies to these pages. The hosting provider still processes information needed to serve and protect the website. GitHub states that it logs and stores visitors’ IP addresses for security purposes, even when they are not signed in. See GitHub Pages and data collection.
8. Retention and what deletion means
Deleting a drink entry, favorite, or serving-size preset removes it from normal lists; it does not permanently erase all stored content. Earlier revisions and deletion information remain locally and, if synced, may remain in your private iCloud data. The app does not currently erase every retained historical revision. Stopping sync does not erase existing copies either.
Exported files, photo-library originals, and backups have separate retention controls. Support correspondence is retained for the period needed to handle your request and related follow-up. Any longer retention for a legal requirement or an actual dispute must be limited to what that purpose requires.
9. Your choices and privacy requests
You can review and edit entries, control camera access in device settings, choose whether to use iCloud, and export the journal data supported by the current JSON format. The deletion limits above also apply when you use the app’s delete action.
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, obtain a copy of, or limit the use of personal information. Contact the email above to make a request. You may also contact the relevant data protection authority. Available actions depend on the information involved and applicable requirements.
10. Keeping information safer
SipLedger uses Apple’s platform storage and service mechanisms. The app does not ask for your Apple Account password, payment-card number, location, contacts, microphone access, or HealthKit access. Keep your device protected and consider what your backup and sharing settings allow.
No storage or transfer method eliminates every risk. This notice does not promise a particular encryption level, uninterrupted synchronization, or recovery of every copy. Do not send passwords or payment details to support.
11. Children
SipLedger is designed for adult personal use and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to support, contact us so we can assess the circumstances and appropriate steps.
12. Changes to this notice
